Well. I shall skip the part about the day in school since most of you already know about and it is also WAY TOO BORING to mention. It really totally redundant to even think about it. But I still mentioned it anyway. Sheesh. I just realised. I myself is so redundant a person. Sigh.

Yay! Prize presentation! Let me tell you the full story. I seriously do not want to miss out anything! It's so amazing, or at least, to me! Don't worry. I'm not going to brag about myself. I'm not that ego, please!

Oh ya, did you notice that idiotic foot in the picture. It is my cousin's foot. She was trying to take the pamphlet away when i took a photo of it. I didn't realise it until I had uploaded the pisture. Sheesh! I'm such a sotong. I didn't check before I upload. Sigh. Should have taken more than one photo so that I can choose the best and WITHOUT THAT STINKY FOOT! Nevermind. It's over. Let bygones be bygones. Man! I sound like an old lecturer. Sheesh. CxY, stop that. Let's continue the story...

Melissa and I arrived at the MOELC as two little dudes. The main gate was locked, unfortunately. So, we took the side gate. Can you guess what was the first thing we saw? The green gigantic sign which says, "Learn German. You've got nothing to lose." It's from the Goethe-Institut. Omg! I know it's been there for quite some time. But it's like the only sign in the MOELC and it promotes German. No other languages have that. And it's green! The representative colour for German in the MOELC! Oh man! It's so unique to German! Ah. I'm going high already. Melissa and I were like already getting all excited about the Prize Presentation. Whee!

We took our attendance and sat down in the super nicely decorated reddish Auditorium. It was damn cold. I wonder what temperature the air conditioner was set to! We talked non-stop for 1 and a half hours. It was then that we realised how talkative SC girls can be, compared to the other schools who kep absolute silence. We were so noisy. Oh my. It's so embarrassing! Haha.

Oh ya. There were 3 prize winners from SC for the German department! There's Melissa and I and another from Sec 3. Woohoo! And guess what? There's none for the other departments at all. Ooh. It's like so sad. German cohort in SC is like the smallest and yet we got the most prizewinners. Haha. I feel so ego. xD

The arrival of the Guest-of-Honour and the ambassadors! Oh. I shouldn't comment on them openly here. I don't want to be sued for slander. Oops.!

The presentation starts. First we had the report by the supervisor of MOELC which was kind of boring. I remember her talking about something related to immersion programmes with the 3 foreign countries whose languages are being taught in the MOELC. They are of course German, French and Japanese.

Then it's the Guest-of-Honour's turn to address us. Ms Sum Chee Wah, Director of Education Programmes, Ministry of Education, mentioned a few lines that left a deep impression in my mind. She said that language is "blood of the soul". Don't you think it's so true? I have never thought of a more approriate expression of a language. This is like the answer to my question, "What exactly is language?"

She also mentioned that a GERMAN philosopher said, "He who does not learn a foreign language does not know his world." I think it's cool because it's from a German. But to view it more objectively, I think it is quite true too. I did not mean to offend anyone by saying that those who do not learn a foreign language do not know their world. I am merely expressing my own opinion. And I agree with this saying. When you learn a foreign language, you learn about the country's culture and traditions and watever that is related to it. It's a very good way of getting to know the world outside your own little personal space. Don't you think so too?

This is the "box" I was given. It's velvet! Don't you think it's so nice a choice of colour? :) Note the ribbon. It's like, GREEN! Representation of GERMAN! Wheee! I'm so happy. The different languages had different colour codes. Malay was blue, Japanese red and French yellow. GREEN!!!

I had actually thought that thye will just give us a certificate or just a piece of useless paper. But look!

It's a plague! I so loved it. It's so nice. I can't find any other adjectives at the moment. I'm hyperventilating!!! The flash cut off the part with the words, "Ministry of Education". Don't mind that. I don't care a single bit about that. Hehe. x)

Oops. Sorry. That was my foot in the pisture this time. I didn't realise it. Man. I'm like so careless. I'm hopeless at photography.

After that, there was the presentation of the Ambassadors' Cups to their recipents. The recipents were the top girl of the JC1 level last year for each FOREIGN language. Malay was not included. Too bad. It was so cool! The cups were gigantic and they looked so prestigious! So man.
Then the recipents each gave a long long long speech in their respective foreign language. They sounded so damn pro! They sound like experts in the languages, they could have been even better in speech than the teachers. I mean, seriously! I want to be like them too! It will be so damn cool larhx! I hope I will be so fluent in German after 5 and a half years. But I do wonder if I will be able to endure that long a period of time. Sigh. I so have no confidence.

After that was phototaking. Melissa sabo-ed me to go on stage first. It's so embarrassing. Yikes! I'm going to kill Melissa for that. Humph.

Then comes the reception. Oh man! It's so nice. Four countries' food served on four different tables! It's like an international food reception!!! I loved it!

Japanese: The sushi was ok and the (i forgot what is is called.) something that looks like kueh was very very sweet.

Malay: The malay food requires no description as we see them very often in singapore as malay is one of the four main races in singapore. Am I not right?

French: I liked the (omg! I forgot the name too? Sheesh. I think my mind is just full of German now. I'm so screwed.) some desert thing. It's so nice. It's not too sweet. See? I gave good comments for French food. I'm just being honest. I'm not biased. xD I didn't dare to try the other French food because I am very choosy and fussy over the food that I eat. I don't eat a lot of food stuff and I think the French food provided just didn't suit my taste. Heh.

German: OMG! My mind can't stop thinking about GERMAN food. I ate a whole lot of Black Forest Cake, Chicken Schnitzel, Brezehl... These food tasted so different from those that are sold in local "German" stores. I don't know how to describe it. It's just... different! Oh man. I realised that Singapore's stores which say that they sell "original" food items from particular countries could be fake. That's so sad and infuriating! Does that mean that we don't get to eat Original foods from Germany, France, etc. other than in those countries themselves?? :(

I didn't dare to take the German Beef Balls. They look so gross, HONEST! I'm not biased, really! And they are German. x[

I had my dinner there when the reception were just supposed to be refreshments. Haha. And all this talk about food has gotten me hungry again. I just had my supper! oH NO! I'm such a glutton. Sigh. Ok. Germany. Germany. Germany. GERMANY! That should bring my spirits up again! Wheee! I'm high!
