i should be in kl by now, unless you're so lag that you're reading this after i'm back! HAHA (: thursday. partnered yuanxi for morning games at scba today. i was quite proud of myself because it's one of the rare times that i'm on time (like really on the dot, cos i alighted the bus at 8.00am sharp :p) when i'm usually too early or too late :x then i received his message that meeting time is corrected to 8.30am -.- anyway in the mean time i took my time to loiter around the near-deserted shopping mall. it's really empty and every step you take creates a resounding tap-tap-tap. the difference between this j8 and the normal crowded mall couldn't be starker. i won't say i was scared, but i felt a bit weird. but the feeling wasn't allowed to sink in because it wasn't before long before i decided that it was too hot to stay in the basement. and since the shops weren't open at that time, i was resigned to sitting in the sauna of a macdonald's. LOL. still very hot. OH thanks for the breakfast treat, yuanxi! (: anyway, he went through a lot of bridge conventions after breakfast. i could understand and follow the logic but i wonder how much was retained, really. and to find out that he hasn't taught yifei any of that yet made me go :o, means i need to relate whatever was taught to me to him as accurately as possible, so i genuinely hope that i've remembered everything clearly. i think it's very wise of you to write it down on paper for me, because even now, i can feel the mass of information being chunked away bit by bit, i wonder how much will be there when i return from kl :x thanks x) oh then we practically ran to scba, cos we were almost late. the games were fun (: though i made quite a few blunders that made me go :O :O :O and want to slap myself stupid immediately after i've commited them. funny how retarded i can be sometimes :p then yuanxi epic-ed a lot, like opening 1NT with 13 or 14 points around 5 times? then i bidded 3NT with only 7-8 points in hand. LOL. and those contracts made and put us on top board because no one else bidded that riskily :p but it's kind of like a boy-cries-wolf thing, such that when he opened 1NT with a genuine and good 15points on the last game, i totally doubted him and bidded off course :/ down many many. blehh. so sad. kah hong was funny, he came without a partner halfway during the morning games (i still don't know why). anyway, he watched us and kept commenting on the gameplay during the game itself. >< LOL. lunch at mos burgers (: i had to treat yuanxi cos we betted on whether i can keep my mistake counts to less than 10 but i obviously failed :/ we sat with mr loo and his friend. haha they were quite funny, talking about shaun tho's suggestion of having inter-faculty bridge competitions, where athena and apollo obviously will own because most of the bridge club members came from these faculties (and more from athena somemore)! i wonder if it'll really going to happen but it'll be fun if it does ((: 156 hates us, i think. it took forever to arrive. and we kept saying that all of them are changing their signboards when they saw us, only to change them back to 156 when they are safe at the next busstop. there was this once when a bus 52 came and we were saying that 156 saw 3 of us and divided itself by 3. LOL how lame can we get? (: bidding on the bus. plus three-man bridge at school, we got all the abnormal distributions of cards. funny (: then we went to coronation for bubble tea only to discover that the shop is closed :/ what luck. fortunately, golden rooster sells bubble tea too, so we didn't make a wasted trip. somemore, we get to sit down (: i've never seen a more green green apple ice blend before. it was practically flourescent green, we thought it'd glow in the dark! alright that concludes a day of bridge adventure. i should be packing. ok cya when i return! (: (this post was scheduled to be published one day later than it was written :P) xinying ploughed through her empty list at 7:49 pm

okay time to update about sunday... and today, before i scoot off to kl! :D sunday. cycling with deborah (: i was about to leave the house when i saw beverly's sms that said she's not feeling up to beat and won't be turning up that day. naturally, i was a little dismayed. i wanted to see both her and deborah quite badly. i think we just went out less than a month ago? but i still missed them. :x but deborah and i met up nevertheless. oh it was a little different this time, because we headed straight to ecp without making a detour to her house (: i don't know what overcame us but it was like a mad rush. funny, it's like pure instinct took over for the afternoon. we walked the few kilometres to ecp really swiftly and started cycling immediately when we were there. we were pushing on with such great speed that it didn't seem possible for us to stop for a moment. then suddenly by some miracle we stepped our brakes just before we past the jetty and swerved precariously onto that concrete projection. we camwhored a little and got all excited about the smile function of my new sony t700. the touchscreen buttons are all in japanese, it took me a while to figure out and get used to them. but it's really amazing how it can just click and take down the photographs automatically the microsecond it detects a decent smile! it's like for a moment, the camera is alive! HAHA(= thanks mr cheong! i love this camera, i'm gonna bring it to kl to capture more sweet/funny/happy/retarded memories (: then we went off at killing speed (alright it's the fastest we can go. so maybe it's a slow for some of you :x) again. i love cycling on the path just outside changi airport. it's like a wide linear route that runs parallel to the long runway. and it's mostly deserted, makes it so conducive to cycle side by side with a friend and chat till the cows come home. (: we did that for some time until we saw an SIA plane turning onto the runway. then we tried to race it until it took off. well, of course, we didn't succeed! but it was fun nonetheless ((: the drama-mama parts come in here. at this moment, we were watching the SIA plane lift its cockpit off the ground, we looked at the watch and totally went :O it was 1.45. that's 15 minutes to end time! there's no way we can cover the route back in that small amount of time! so we turned tail and headed at full speed back to the starting point! it completely slipped our mind that we wanted to race the planes again. sighh! never mind we shall try it again next time! it'll be one of the highlights of our next few cycling trips to come! :DD this one is more melodramatic. well, i didn't fall into the drain this time, don't worry :p by some unknown force, a huge yellowed leaf got stuck between the front wheel and the metal above it when i made that massive u-turn. i was going at mad speed (because time was running out) when the unnaturally rustling sound at the wheel caught my attention. it did no good to try to slow down because that made the leaf entangle itself in the spikes of the wheel, making the bike stop so suddenly that it almost threw me off. :x it's like voodoo or something, i fell at almost the same spot because i recognised the little shelter nearby and that ant-infested black of concrete above the drain :// and it's after we watched planes take off and made a u-turn too :O alright, i'm not superstitious but just amazed by the coincidence. anyway, this is an improvement. i'm really glad i didn't become a catapult and only suffered minor scrapes ((: maybe next time i'll suffer something even milder? yayys (: on our way back, the sun was scorching hot. it felt really weird because the wind was so strong but our skins were burning. i suspected i was suffering from a mild heat stroke because i felt like fainting when we finally reached the bike shop... half an hour late. :p but i quickly dismissed it cos we were both so red, i think we were just slightly sunburnt (: oh it's pretty funny how both of our slippers decided to say goodbye to us today. deborah's broke while she was cycling; mine when we were just starting to roam around parkway parade LOL. deborah's slippers got be repaired by stuff the broken part back into the hole it came from! :o so she didn't have to limp from ecp to parkway. lucky! (: but mine can't. so i'm lucky too! i got a new pair at giant's (: it's lime green with black polka dots! super nice, i love it :D so fun! beverly, come next time ok? we miss you (: xinying ploughed through her empty list at 9:11 pm
for the first time, i'd say "my beloved academy"
Wednesday, November 25, 2009
alright enough nostalgia. i've received complaints about laggy updates (makes me feel like a real journalist but i won't flatter myself :d), so let's get on with business. i've been wanting very much to update this but the claws of the academy simply gripped on me like a vice. not that i had forgotten to eat or sleep (those essentials can never be replaced xP) as a result, but i had a hard time extracting myself from it. so blame the author for making his novel so tantalising! HAHA. anyway, the academy is about a John Tyler High School becoming a charter school, and when it did so, strange things started to occur to the people who populated the school, teachers and students alike. the principal appeared to be like a cult leader, trying to pull as many people to become converts that worshipped the school (instead of the state). there were Tyler Scouts around that much resembled the Hitler Youth. it's the entire Orwellian utopia feel that created so much mystery and appealled so much to me, i guess. but the supernatural encounters kind of freaked me out a little, such that i dared not touch the book in the quiets of my room at night. maybe that was why i didn't forget to sleep, which is a good thing (: what i find most satisfying is that the plot ties in together very nicely. teacher, student, janitors, office clerks' experiences all served to explain what one another had observed and the writer incorporated historical elements of the school (i've always been fascinated by history because backgrounds add so much to the mystery that shrouded the school)! it's been ages since i've been so intrigued by a fiction book. i think it's the language that bentley little used, the way he allowed the the story to flow that drew me into it right from the first page. so go read! :D i swear i'll get down with one of his other books, maybe the vanishing (it's featured on the cover of the academy)? or even george orwell's 1984. haha this is exciting (: potential bookworm on her way B) oh and some of you were asking me why i was so guai, i actually stayed home enough for 2 days to finish up 400 pages and some parts of i & i. wednesday is initally my only scheduled free day this week (i hardly get day-offs, and i fought really hard for it! :P). but my allergic reaction returned on tuesday morning. this time it's only two fingers and it's on my right hand. it boggles me, because i'm positive i haven't touched dichloromethane for the whole of monday. and since only 2 fingers are affected, i guess it rules out the possibility that i'm allergic to the new brand of gloves they're using. plus any chemical couldn't have only come in contact with 2 fingers (middle finger somemore LOL!). well, the last time it affected the part near my knuckles, this time it's the middle joints, maybe next time it'll attack my finger tips and the very next time it'll be gone! HAHAHA :D anyway, i'm not complaining cos i'm glad that it allowed me to stay home and completely indulge in my new-found love. i haven't felt so surreal in a long while (wasn't even supposed to feel so, since the novel is a horror one! but i guess it's the activity that counts!). it's a calmness that's pleasant, i didn't think it was possible to be so, given my fluctuation between crazy bounciness and emo pangs. i wonder how long it'll last, but i'll treasure it while it's still there :D xinying ploughed through her empty list at 7:54 pm
i'm no poet
you made me realise that there's so much more to look out for in life, even within things that i used to make out as absurd and too flamboyant to take them seriously. thanks, i just want you to know that you mean so much to me. there's no doubt to it anymore. i only wish you were here with me. xinying ploughed through her empty list at 7:10 pm

making huge attempts to eliminate my backlog, by simply discarding it? HAHA wednesday - research i woke up with a certain degree of dread for the day ahead of me. well, it was research, what can you expect from it? drowsy from a night of sleeplessness (i immediately accounted my tiredness to the lack of good quality sleep, which i later found out that the fatigue probably stemmed from the body trying to fight the allergy effects through the night. you've worked hard, t cells =P), i was startled by the contrast between my left and right hand. the joints on my left hand had narrowed to a thin line; the fingers were swollen, with a tinge of redness. it was no doubt a mild allergic reaction, just short of the redevelopment of rashes (which did arrive later in the morning LOL). ask whether it's an unlucky day of mine, to have my fingers suffer from double attacks of itchiness and hotness; or a blessing in disguise, cos i managed to escape a full day of research which i dreaded so much. but nonetheless, i'm grateful for the full day of rest that i received by pure chance (: xinying ploughed through her empty list at 10:00 am

sunday. dad took us out to toa payoh today. (: and our sole mission was to find shoes for mum before we leave for malaysia next week. dad was clearly dismayed at the idea that this is how we're going to spend his off-day, when i'm sure he'd rather be watching random music videos and series drama on ppstream, or his favourite taiwanese entertainment channels on tv in the comforts of the house. somehow, shopping (other than for groceries) just isn't his cup of tea, as with most men too. and mum's responses weren't helping either. "so cheap? sure no size le, they're probably trying to clear stock", she would exclaim before moving on to the next store. then "aiyo, all plastic slippers. don't they have a presentable shoe or sandal?" and it'll leave dad rather exasperated having to trail behind her, with no end of the shopping trip in sight. HAHA. ((: it's pretty cute how they've led their lives together for almost 2 decades and still find the energy to squabble over the most trivial stuff. and it reminds me of how my grandparents were arguing over what my name was (yes, grandpa is a little blur sometimes). the topic of argument may seem pretty mundane, or even retarded. but on further thought, seriously, what's the difference between them and young couples who are newly in love quarrelling over little things? and it is precisely these squabbles that add to the colours of their lives and brings them closer in their relationships. the thought of that is making me smile helplessly now, and it makes me wonder how i'd turn out to be like 20-30 years or maybe even 50 years down the road. will i be like them? or will i turn out to be totally different? that is something i cannot fathom. but nonetheless, it's something that makes me hopeful towards the future (: gathering at my aunt's house for dinner was an even more delightful experience. we had a test of each person's knowledge of poker cards. it was damn fun, and we had a good laugh over it, because the kids were really witty and gave answers that never failed to send us into fits of laughter. haha there is hope for the next generation, given our - ok, their - intelligence :D though the adults were clearly worried that we're under bad influence. well, their woes weren't uncalled for. seriously, all the kids are getting really well-versed in all kinds of card games and their gambling systems: blackjack, bridge, dai di. most of them are just short of learning poker, and i think they can well be the top dealers in the casinos of our integrated resorts! LOL :D so fun! love you guys <3 sighh - happiness, it can be so simple (: xinying ploughed through her empty list at 10:17 am

I’m way behind time. Shall skip some ba :D WARNING: long post. Friday officially marked our liberation!! A recount on op: the whole group was really nervous, and could feel our nerves short-circuiting on all counts. We were crossing our fingers that none of us will have an acute power failure later during the presentation. >< what’s worse was that I've only briefly looked through the list of questions that we spotted for q&a. So obviously, I couldn’t recall any bit of useful information that I had gathered from it. The feeling of unpreparedness was practically eating me alive, and I was slapping myself stupid for my over-confidence (that of course ceased to exist at that point in time). But then again, it turned out that all our worries were unwarranted, since they shoved me with a question that we won’t have thought about in our lifetime. Or rather, even if we’ve pondered over it, there’s no satisfactory answer we can get out of it. Well, you see, they asked me which companies would sponsor our lucky draw on cultural diversity. There’s no way we can answer for sure, unless we go knocking on their doors seeking their approval, isn’t it? We didn't do that great, I would say. But I think we did ok on the whole. Kai Yun and Phuong Ha gave really long answers that actually made a lot of sense. I need to applaud them for their wittiness. Was really awed by how they could link from one point to another (when I really see no connection between them. But when they pointed it out in plain words, I was totally convinced.). Like wow, they can really think on their feet, it’s amazing! I’ve got a lot to pick up from them. HAHA! (: Patrick’s stumbles were a pity. :/ That’s not to say that I didn’t stumble at all, that is. I was so nervous, my heart was jumping out right before the presentation. Spent all my time calming myself down, I didn’t really observe how I was doing. Hopefully, I didn’t look too rehearsed. Though more than often, I should look like I’m merely going through motion, since I had almost no control over what I was doing. :x But in any case, I’m really happy that it's over! Just pray for the best ((: for now, let's kiss goodbye to all the strenuous nights of pw! *opens champagne to celebrate* WHEE :D Then the pilgrimage to Mr Cheong was really fruitful. Most of the guys received backpacks worth (I’ve no idea, but heard that it’s at close to a hundred for most :O). Yit Khai has always been associated with green. What green bag, green jacket, green shirt… In giving him a green army-like haversack, it means to extend his reputation as a green man? LOL. Matthew got a really cool bag. It’s the first time I’ve seen once of its kind, it’s a little difficult to describe it. Erm, there is a lot of storage space in it. Mr Cheong said he used to use it to carry his heavy skis, so it must be really strong, durable and handy (: Parting with a dozen backpacks is still acceptable, since most of them came to his possession as free gifts and he didn’t need them anymore. Besides, it’s taking up space in his house and he probably can’t sell them. So the next best alternative is to pamper us with these expensive trinkets. :ppp then he offered me his Sony T700 and linying his second smallest digital camera (I can’t remember the model). Like OMG? They’re nearly brand-new and he was willing to part with it without any qualms. But what really shocked us was when kaiyun asked him for a laptop and he said yes so readily to it. :O <- can you see my jaws dropping? And imagine around ten others doing the same at that time. (: Then we jokingly requested for his Mercedes Benz HAHA. He’s seriously too generous to be true. And it’s really funny when he advised us not to follow in his footsteps in years to come. LOL. Bridge. Small team match with the juniors (: was it today that we had sambal chicken at Golden Rooster? Oh yes, it is. I wasn’t even half way through but my tongue was so numb, I couldn’t continue eating. Sambal spice ftw! It’s such a pity, cos it’s so tasty but I couldn’t stomach it :x but I’m glad I got to eat as much as I could anyway (: I didn’t know Shaun Lum could take so much spiciness. Yuanxi was transferred so much chilli sauce over to his plate, but he still ate it as per normal, as if it’s a non-spicy dish. X) Julian was perspiring and gulping down his milk tea like crazy, so I guess he couldn’t take a lot of spice as well. But he managed to polish the plate clean in the end too. Pro. Thumbs up for everyone! :D OH and Shaun kept niao-ing me. I was glad to have Yuanxi and Yen Seow shooting him down, whenever he tried something funny. Thanks guys, I really appreciated it :DDD and Shaun, wait till I dig out something. *evil smiles* LOLx. Watched 2012 with Claudia! (: oh what we did was epic. There were 4.15 and 4.55 shows coming up, when we arrived at the counter. But the 4.15 show was flashing red. It’s supposed to mean that tickets were “selling fast” but somehow, we thought they were sold out! So we asked for a pair of 4.55 tickets. The staff gave us 4.15 tickets but we went off without double-checking. So, after loitering around the shopping mall and the shophouses around it, we came back just in time for the 4.55 show. And miraculously, the staff let us in. I guess neither of us sensed anything amiss. Maybe the staff wasn’t paying attention to which theatre we were headed towards in any case. So yea, off we were, happily pushing our way into cinema 2 (that’s where the 4.15 show was already showing), only to find ourselves in the middle of the show. -.- we were really stunned, it took us a while to realise what was written on our tickets and went to ask for a change. OH we were really really lucky. From fourth row seats in the 4.15 show, we were given the last row for the 4.55 show. So we could watch really comfortable. HI FIVE CLAUDIA! Maybe it pays to be blur sometimes :P Anyway, the show was great! I love the digital visual effects. It looked real, I won’t have guessed it’s animated. Instead I’ll think it’s a fantastic documentary, if I’m to live several generations later and these incidents really did happen. ((: I like the way they injected a human touch to the film. They handled the emotions pretty well, I almost cried towards the end. But it’s rather subtle though, so it wasn’t too clichéd. Not a normal disaster film (: one setback maybe it’s a little too long. I found it hard to sit still for 2hours and a half straight. Or maybe it’s just me. Word count: 1,208 xinying ploughed through her empty list at 10:48 pm

last friday. i decided to fulfill my role a filial daughter and stayed home to accompany my mum. but she was having her beauty sleep most of the time, so i was in this zzzzzz mood. nevertheless, i still managed to talk to her before leaving the house for real work. so yea, i'm happy ((: love ya, mum <3 investment meeting at ri(jc) <-- this looks a bit weird, but less so than before. seems like we (ok, i'm.) still not fully accustomed to its new name. (: anyway, it was a rather long walk to the jc section and i kept tripping over this and that. it's scary how clumsy i can be sometimes. and the security guard told me to be careful playfully. if i'm not wrong, it was the same guard who told me to watch out for my step, when i last came for open house. haha, he's so friendly and funny, which is a rare trait to come by for security guards ((: yifei and i were early. but our rj counterparts were scheduled to end at 3.30pm and we are meeting at 4, so we figured that we should call them. tried dialling deborah's phone but it was engaged (after that, not in use some more. LOL. i think she switched it off :x and she confirmed that it was almost out of batt after that, as usual. HAHA. funny girl.), so we wound up stoning in the canteen. we were rather appalled when she called shortly after 4pm, to say that their lessons ended late, and that they were coming to meet us at tornado speed now. haha, we'd have made a hell lot of noise, should we even have to work overtime for 10minutes. let alone half an hour! D: pretty huge changes of target group, budgetting as well as timeline. we made quite a bit of progress during this 2nd formal meeting. so yayys. i'm quite excited for it now. hopefully all will be well. ganbatte everyone! ((: OH ya, and we were amazed by deborah's minutes-taking techniques. it looked so messy, how everything runs parallel or overlaps with everything else. or how arrows are drawn up, down, left, right that it formed a more than complex web. but she could deciper it alright, and was able to type out the minutes in a very neat and organised manner after that. seriously, she does amazing things all the time. i must salute to her, always so on task and inspiring, and not forgetting humour; an outstanding person, really. (= i think i unwittingly said something wrong on friday though. hope i didn't remind you of the sad bygones :x anyway, the meeting ended much earlier than expected. it took only, say, one and a half hour when we fully expected a two to three-hour session. haha, so efficient ((: but that also meant that we parted rather quickly too. i was quite sad that we couldn't leave the same way so we can spend more time together, talking about personal stuff. x( never mind, i can't wait to see you again next week! so exciting :DDD then yifei and i went to j8 to meet yuanxi. his grandsenior (oh ya, that means ours also, lol.) was damn funny. she called him to help her replenish some groceries. amazingly, she was able to recite the brand and flavour and exactly what the packaging looks like off her fingertips. and just in case, certain brands are unavailable, she could do the same for alternatives. LOL. we really suspect that she was looking at the catalogues on the internet when telling yuanxi all the information. it's too pro to be true. :p and the funnest part was that, everything bought turned out to be pink. so yea, she must have a fetish for pink, like my mum. :x night event at scba was an eye-opener :D bridge really appeals to all ages, cos there were so many adults there. some of the elderly couples are so cute (: oh ya and the association was run by elderly ladies (but they look much younger than they are. i won't have believed that they are so old, if not for yuanxi telling us!). and they are very well-versed in the techniques and play of bridge. see, women can be really good at card games too! three cheers for women! hip hip hurray. hip hip hurray. hip hip hurray! LOL :p OH i saw a trophy with mr loo's name on it. he must be super pro! and confirmed it when we played with him for 2 boards. i messed up the first 2 boards so badly that it put our scores on the road of no return. pai seh! luckily managed to pull myself together and played better after that. but towards the end there was this board, that i was the declarer and i kept playing either from the wrong hand or the wrong suit. blur queen. LOL. guess i was rather worn out cos it was close to 11pm, that's why :p it's so fun. we should go there again next time :D yawns. ok like what matthew said, remember his project on sleep deprivation. i shall try: i'm xinying, and i'm sleep deprived. solution? i should go sleep now. misadventures (:

thursday. last official school day and we're off! mr ang's dialogue was, as usual, really slow. but what was surprising was that hardly anyone knew about his retirement until today. shows that no one actually reads the chinese papers (which includes me, i just browsed through :p and i knew about this because my mum told me about it). lol. special ct. what was special ct for anyway? i don't remember anything that happened. except that we were quite bowled over by the design of the tables. the way they open up and allow us to deposit our laptops in them. there're also keyholes on it, so we figured that it's possible to use them as lockers, should that be our classroom. so cool. sometimes i really wish we had a classroom, but the benches do give a rather cosy feel. it's give and take, i guess (: card session after school: contract bridge with bridge mates as usual. (: claudia, matthew, dewei and shaun were playing revo-dai di next to us. they got really agitated towards the end and kept banging the table. shaun and dewei kept exclaiming at the top of their voices, especially. LOL. heard that claudia alternated between upgraded from asshole to king, because she got 4 of a kind and revo-ed them all... TWICE. HAHA. too bad! go claudia go :DDD somehow shaun, claudia and i ended up together after that. jiayang wanted to join us but he had training in an hour at that time, and it was raining too heavily for us to walk brolly-less to anywhere nearby. so oh well :/ it took us a really long time to settle on going to the isolated macs in amk. and then again, there was miscommunication between claudia and me (one of the rare opportunities we get to do so :P). it's like: to get to our destination, we should take 852. but she thought that we were talking about the macs right outside amk hub all along. and that will require us to take 74 instead. so when i saw 852 at the bus stop, i tugged at claudia but she refused and said 74 would be a better choice and got both of us all confused. so we watched 852 zoom off before our eyes when we realised our mistake LOL. so retarded. (: the joke didn't end there! we got off at amk mrt, the furthest end from the macs outside the hub, because it was stormy over there too and we needed a fully sheltered route. it took us ages to get there, only to find it full :x so we were resigned to making our way to the isolated macs. that's was where things got out of hand. we didn't really know where it was situated from where we were. so we resorted to blindly following a certain direction (NSEW? i've no idea). it wasn't long before we reached the new entertainment centre. then somehow after taking a turn to the back of the building, we were headed towards courts and found ourselves at the library before spotting the macs building. by then we were rather exhausted and trudged wearily towards the coverted macs. it was then that we passed by the front of the entertainment centre and our jaws dropped :o because it means that we've made such a huge detour to the library, we probably walked 200% more than we were entitled to :x then seeing that there's another huge detour ahead since it's imperative that we take the far far away overhead bridge across the road, we were exploding with OMGs. totally spammed :o :o :o :o it seemed like eons before we reached our destination. but it was all worth it, because we worked so hard for the meal, our lunch tasted especially good ((: card session. we played german bridge, blackjack, dai di and poker. it turned out that claudia didn't know most of the gambling systems. we're like polar opposites, it's pretty funny how we complement each other sometimes (: anyway, claudia was running beginner's luck, but she's too guai to place any bets, so we were spared of losing a million teh bings to her. :p shaun had to work really hard to earn his teh bing cos we seem to be taking turns to win (that is, because claudia didn't bet! or it'll be all hers LOL). oh that reminds me, i still owe shaun a teh bing, which means payment will be postponed to next year if i forget to clear it on friday! whoops! :x haha so fun, we should hang out more often, all the card lovers. :DD xinying ploughed through her empty list at 10:46 pm

wednesday. my first team match! (= HAHA i love team games, whatever the game is. i think i just love people LOL. but the way they take the net score between opponents for bridge is really interesting and cool, though i still don't really get how to record them. i wonder which brilliant bridge pioneer came up with it long long ago. and signs of improvement are spurring me on. looking forward to more of them soon (= xinying ploughed through her empty list at 10:16 pm

tuesday. LAST tuesday. :p the time table was quite crappy. we had: math lecture 1.5 hour break pw 2.5 hour break another pw lesson LOL. anyway, during the first pw lesson, we presented. to be exact, only my group got to present, because mr cheong was nowhere to be seen half the time. and during the short period of time that he was in class to watch us run through once and only once, he interjected the presentation with rather meaningless questions, which we thought was more to irritate us than to provide practical help :/ so the practice round didn't really help, because it only made us more nervous (ok it's just me, i seem to have lost touch in presentation skills :// phuong ha and kaiyun looked more disgruntled than unsettled :x). it was only until the next day, when we saw one of 64's presentation that we realised what's lacking in our powerpoint. and knew exactly what to refine from there, to make it look more professional, clean and less noob, of course! that's what we call real help. anyway, our powerpoint looks so nice now, i shouldn't complain further (((: ms yang treated us during our first break. she's so nice :D it was like a farewell for her, since she's leaving us for moe very soon. though she says it's more to celebrate end of promos for us, but i guess both ways work (: jiaming was super funny, she was so happy that we were feeding her food. and kept reiterating that: "food tastes nicer when fed" HAHA. she can really make us laugh all the time. so cute :DD we were crapping so much with ms yang, even talked about going to hong kong to 打小人, and then somehow we tried to bring the practice into singapore, and came up with all sorts of alternatives, like sitting under an ulu stairwell in hc, and offer to perform rituals on different teachers/students at different prices. we even considered price elasticity. LOL. so crappy. but seems like a viable business opportunity! :p haha she's so funny! actually i'm beginning to like her. cos she really wants to help us but we're just too arrogant, didn't do our work properly and even talked back sometimes. i think she had a hard time teaching us but it's kind of late to try to make any amends. sighh. maybe we can be nicer to our next bio teacher, so that at least she made an impact! :DD anyway, we'll miss ms yang for sure :x phuong ha and i left for commserve before the second pw lesson! it's so useless anyway, i doubt anyone will disagree :p we met tze liang there. he claimed that we left school at the same time but he managed to reach the centre 20 minutes before us. :o is the 852 route really faster? we shall try that next time (: tze liang was really funny. he kept getting owned by little sean and his cute vampire aspirations. i was trying to teach this other boy, who wasn't very responsive :/ so i ended up listening to and laughing at most of their conversation (more like monologue by sean, cos tze liang couldn't really say more than what sean wants him to. LOL. :p). then it wasn't before long that tze liang asked to switch tutees. HAHA. i think the same happened for phuong ha last week too. somehow they say, i'm the only one who can rubbish with sean. -.- nvm i'll take that as a compliment! means i can talk and negotiate pretty well!! then we went to fetch more kids from their school. maybe it's because exams just ended, the kids were really wild today. they kept running all over the place. we had a lot of trouble keeping them intact as a group and herding them back to the centre. but phuong ha and i expected it and were rather calm (: tze liang seemed to be overwhelmed HAHA. he was especially exasperated when mischievous wei zhang fell while running away from him. and then he was totally lost for words when wei zhang accused him of pushing him on to the ground. LOL. kids are kids mann ((: of course that wasn't the end of our adventure. there were more trouble, like wei zhang throwing a tantrum because none of us was able to help him unwrap the all sticky gum. eeks :/ and faith losing her green water baby. then when wei zhang finally devised a method to tear out the wrapper bit by bit, he ordered us to take the pieces from him one by one, and throw them for him. what tze liang said was epic: "i didn't know we're their maids too." HAHAHA. true! commserve was really fun. but i still can't remember the name of the new teacher :x we set a record long for our commserve sessions today! if i'm not wrong we stayed slightly over 3 hours, way more than the last high score of 2 hours plus!! haha we love commserve. can just stay there forever without feeling tired. or rather, it's usually after we left and are waiting for the bus at the terminal, that we have difficulty keeping our eyes open, and we start wondering how we were so energetic and didn't feel this fatigue coming at the commserve (: i'm really looking forward to commserve activities during the hols. hopefully there'll be as many as cherng yew has promised! :DD this song seems to get nicer after listening to it a few times! HAHAHA <3 xinying ploughed through her empty list at 9:50 pm

monday. oh ya today is monday! but what i meant was that i'm going to update about last monday. so in case you're wondering if i'v psychic powers to be able to predict exactly what's going to happen for the rest of the day. don't be alarmed, cos i'm not! and don't mix up! HAHA, i'm so happy today for no reason :D alright what was i going to say? omg, that always happens when i talk too much rubbish :x ok i remember now. it was the day of chinese "a" levels and there wasn't any official lessons for us. but we went back to school anyway, solely for bridge. it's another slack day and i was going to get to do one of my favourite activities with fellow bridge mates. so i was rather chirpy. ((: oh ya thanks yifei for buying me lunch. i think i was being retarded, to go there with an empty stomach, when we're supposed to be there, all set to play till the cows come home! so thanks ya! then yen seow was damn funny. when his mum gave him a call nearing 5pm, he thought that it was only around 3 and was prepared to play for around an hour more. he almost told her that he'll be home by 5 or something along those lines. or worse still, say that he'll be leaving school at 4pm! LOL! i think his mum will really doubt his sanity if he did that! but seriously, time teleports when playing bridge! and yuanxi made us laugh a lot when he made fun of yen seow. HAHA. :x i played rather crappily today though, kept mixing up the meanings of all the biddings over and over again, and i think it was quite waning on your patience! sorry! and ok i'll stop being "anti-social" and go for dinner with you guys soon. promise! haha. funny people :D xinying ploughed through her empty list at 3:56 pm

ok i need to get down on blogging, or my backlog will extend into the milky way. sunday. GEMS #2. we are one of the few lucky classes who got to go on a 2nd GEMS, because we were so thrifty the first time round where we had barely used a quarter of the money allocated for class enrichment. more amazingly, we didn't even use up the remaining funds after GEMS #2, i think. kudos to the awesome budget!! i think thrift is the way to go, so we don't have pay up to the class fund so frequently. it's emptying most of our pockets so quickly, it's scary. so jiayou, whoever's managing the finances (: anyway, we went cycling at east coast park. the guys directed us to a cycling shop at area e which charges a higher price that the one we usually go to at area c. but since the school is paying and we won't get to split the leftover funds over anything else (like class dinner, etc.), forget it (: another good thing about it is that it's nearer to changi, so we actually managed to reach changi and watched planes take off!! then come back in time to return the bikes, despite my numerous accidents and delays :x initially elizabeth and i didn't know that that was singapore's beloved changi airport. all we saw was an endless stretch of green fence. was there barbed wire? i can't remember but there should be, because we thought it was changi prison, or any other military camp that needed such tight security. it was only after 10 minutes of cycling along this green defence line, that we begin to see huge white vehicles that i barely made out to be planes (: then we watched the whole process of how a lufthansa plane take off. it was especially noisy, cos we were standing very near to the exact spot where the plane lifted itself off the ground. but the sight was so majestic, i dare say i felt a sense of exhilaration when it took off and headed towards the azure blue sky. i've been wanting to go on a lufthansa airplane for a long time. seriously, i must get on one when i've the means to! after that comes the epic part. elizabeth called the guys to ask them where they are, and we found out that they were very near changi. so we were contemplating on whether to wait or to turn back and cycle till we meet them. that was when i declared that: if i made a u-turn here, i'll definitely head down straight into the drain. then 5 minutes later, we were cycling back when we saw the guys, jinfaye and yingyan. at that point, it was like a premonition come true. i've no idea why i did that but by the time i realised it, it was too late. the sentence was past. i went straight down with the bike into the drain. my tummy hit the concrete so hard, it hurt so badly and i couldn't speak for a minute or two. and then there were red ants crawling all over and biting me. pain :// despite that, i thought i had escaped unscathed until they helped me up onto the pavement and i realised i had cuts and bruises everywhere. :/ but fortunately, they were pretty minor. and i'm lucky enough not to break anything! ((: OH and according to elizabeth, russell scraped his knee in the process, because he fell off his bike when he saw me fall. his injury is worse than mine though my accident looked near-fatal. LOL. actually i won't have known what to do if not for our class people's help. doubt i can get the bike back up without falling in again :x thanks russell and everyone there! i really appreciate it (: of course, the precarious journey didn't end there. i was infested with ants (which i think was 50% imagination and 50% real :p) and had to keep shaking and pinching them off on the way back to the bike shop. OH and i hit a kerb when doing a 90-degree turn, and almost flew a few inches with the bike :DD this is more fun than roller-coaster!! after that we gathered at the beach. beehoon is scared of sand. that's ok, but it's really shocking to find out that she's never touched sand before, or did she only touch it once in her life? whatever the case, it's equally astonishing. HAHA our classmates are full of surprises (: then vanessa dropped her carrot cake on the sand. when they tried to clear it up, they swiped a lot of sand along with it into the styrofoam box. wan chu said it looked like mua chee and russell said "so nice". HAHA. then i think i played tic tac toe with him. and when he lost, he paused for quite a while and then said "oh i lost". lol russell and his dry humour. he's really like a big friendly giant (: dinner/supper at macs. we found out that the biskering pair, kaiyun and yunhao, collects the monopoly stickers from macs! kaiyun received 2 red stickers and was only short of "shenton way", before she can enter the lucky draw for a laptop. that'll save her 2 years, since she was planning to save up enough for a notebook in 2 years. cosmic irony can really make a fool of people sometimes. it turned out that only yunhao had that fateful "shenton way" piece, who insisted on splitting the prize. but how to split a laptop? so kaiyun was resigned to collecting the last piece by herself :/ today was fun on the whole, despite the numerous accidents :p but i think i slowed everyone down by A LOT today. sorry! and thanks. i love our class :D xinying ploughed through her empty list at 5:25 pm
煮-ON!

saturday. it was such a relaxing day, i stoned around for the most part before going to school early just to bridge :p it was't long before beehoon and kaiyun arrived. bee was really cutely dressed. i love her round pink ear-rings, though pink is the bane of my life! oh claudia was "re-learning" guitar at the next bench. i thought she played quite well. it's like, why are you so musically talented? i really want to give you my idling guitar x) cos i'm quite hopeless at music-making, it's a wonder how i passed grade 8 a few years back. maybe it's one of the miracles that happen to me. life is so amazing ((: oh as we bridged, we watched the fac comm put up the decorations painstakingly. the last piece of deco had just been put up when the skies started to rumble. then down came the rain, and they had to shift everything, every table, chair and steamboat into inner plaza. :// steamboat party! the guys were quite gross. the moment you added some food to the steamboat (meat, sausage, veggie, whatever), they'll take them out immediately and start eating. it's rather disgusting, because the meat isn't even cooked yet. how could they eat it like that? then again, what's the use of putting the food into the pot in the first place. they can just eat it directly from the plate, if that's how they want it to be! LOL. the girls were the complete opposite. kept insisting that we should wait for the soup to bubble, because that affirms that everything has been thoroughly cooked (or rather, pretty much over-cooked). HAHA the two extreme ends. (: maybe we need to meet somewhere midway. but it's that irony that makes the class so cute sometimes <3 bridge again with shaun, yuanxi and yifei after the meal. shaun was damn funny. the first time he was scammed, his classmate said that there was free ice cream (there actually was!) so he went to take for us. but he got ambushed and they spammed his shirt with soapy foam. then his shirt has barely dried before his friends came along again to spray him one more time. so his shirt was really soaked. think he's going to fall sick at this rate, especially in such cold weather. :x the downpour had to come on this fateful day. it really messed up all plans. but fortunately, the fac comm was pretty well-prepared cos everything still went on smoothly, like the competitions, bboy performance, the screening of ju-on, etc. though according to wan chu, a lot of games weren't played, and the fac comm didn't get to dress up because all the hassle of relocating everything into inner plaza took up a lot of time. but we still had a lot of fun, hanging out with fellow athenians ((: kudos to fac comm! xinying ploughed through her empty list at 9:08 pm
in celebration of sports
ok this is totally overdue. tuesday. jiaqi is back... with gifts, of course(: there was a frenzy to grab and choose the different flavours of pocky or pretz that she bought from china. it's funny how we gawk at food sometimes. but i guess that's what makes our classmates so cute and fun to be with(= the mango-flavoured pretz with its bulky cream was especially cute. i got macha (my favourite green tea)! almond and coffee flavours were really fragrant too. and according to chengyan, it costs only around 60cents SGD per pack. quite worth it, isn't it? i shall bug ppl to get it next time they're in mainland. x) can i say that festival of sports was quite a failure? we were quite disappointed by the silence and calm that reined the school. the energy level was plain low at the soccer field, so we went to look at the other sports and ended up sitting in the middle between the vball and bball matches (: eva the pro bballer, it's like her long passes were all close to perfection. and qianqian was really good at intercepting and shooting too. they're totally my bball idols now, really enjoyed watching them. the vball girls were cool too! it's amazing how they could keep the ball in the air for so long with such accurate passes. such control! when there's like only 1 in 10,000 chance i'll get the ball ti go in the correct direction lol. and they were first! ftw athena! OH we saw russell serve with minimal strength but the ball flew so far. a 大力士 through and through, no dispute for that :o then we moved on to watch bball guys. it was quite awkward when we wanted to cheer at first because none of the athenians were cheering. but the aries people were cheering with such fervour continuously that we couldn't resist the temptation to rally for our faculty as well. fortunately, a few athenian supporters did cheer after that. though it was quite scattered and didn't do much to boost morale, it did make us less hesitant about cheering. then we gave it all out and cheered madly from time to time, even though no one's cheering :p we positioned ourselves in rather perilous spots, in one row at a corner of the court. so we'll definitely get hit should they throw the ball in our direction. but actually, come to think of it, there really wasn't any safe spot anyway. the bballers were super rough, and bee was really scared she'll get hit. i think she did get hit, once. and she was screaming every time the ball comes close. it's quite funny. :p yuanxi or "yao ming" stood out from the crowd. he played well and i just found out he was from bball. no wonder (= junxian was good at shooting. his penalty shots were just imba, that's all i can say :D we were criticising some ppl -beeps- shan't say, i don't rmb much anyway. :x then i played netball in my brown uniform with huang cheng people. felt really warm, both in the heart and physically sweaty. they are such nice people to hang out with (: it was 4 artemis people against a dozen of us. we didn't tabulate the score but it's a clear cut win on their side. super pro :DDD it was super fun on the whole though. and there was this girl who was hilarious. i forgot her name, only remember that it's 4 words long. x) but anyway, she caught the ball and ended up in a flamingo position next to the goalpost. then she was dancing around quite flexibly too. after that, we found out that she was from wushu. no wonder she's so agile :D <3 sports but maybe hc needs to up the atmosphere just a wee bit more?
