friday. there's so much to reminiscent about, i don't know where to begin. particularly after a three-day break from all english literary sources, it feels like i've undergone a long rehab session. i'm stumped for words. haha, this reminds me of how 東方翔's basketball skills deteriorated due to a lack of practice (well, i'm barely past episode 2 but i can smell an addiction coming up. better brace myself for a fierce 籃球火 marathon :p). so yes, i have kinda lost touch with writing again. but that's alright, i'll try to keep the lines flowing (= on friday, we woke up really early. i think it was around 5.30am? i don't quite remember the timing but i vaguely recall the call of the cockerel in the darkness. though we were tired and blurry-eyed, having awoken during the wee hours in the morning, i guess the day started off quite well; and we had a good laugh, when mum gave an account on how dad couldn't get to sleep all night. he had butterflies in his tummy and was too excited for the trip to catch any winks, just like a child will be (: to be honest, i was rather excited as well. it certainly wasn't my first trip to kl but i had a feeling this time, it's going to be different. first up, the most trivial of all, we're setting off from a totally different destination. not the usual smoky carpool (or bus-pool) area along beach road that made me queasy and can't wait to take flight, but a distinguished stop behind concorde hotel (: the walk to concorde from somerset was also an eye-opener: i managed to take a good look at the deserted orchard road at 6 plus in the morning. there wasn't even a single soul in sight. but it wasn't as spooky as i'd expected. it was even pleasant to step on the serene street. it's rare to take in orchard in this state, and i kind of enjoyed the tranquility. (= we were taken aback by the crowd that has arrived before us. it was a far cry from the empty streets on the other side of concorde hotel. but i must say i was much more at ease amongst them. there's safety in numbers. i don't even know why i'd thought of it that way, perhaps i'd read too much of bentley little, who could turn everyday situations into the most scary incidents. :x anyway, there were a lot of people lining up to register. the signs clearly indicated that kl-goers should head to the 2 counters on the left, while those destined for malacca should use the counters on the right. but quite a few people had come to the front of the line at counter A (where dad initally stood in line as well) to find that their names were not on the register. one uncle in checkered shirt was so shocked he almost shouted. :x just when we thought there was a major screw-up brewing, we realised that there was a namelist that directed us to specific counters (ours was counter F on the extreme right). so the arrow signs were completely useless and misleading. lol, so much for a morning fright. what tourists fear and are most anguished, is to have something crop up and their trips cancelled. i wonder how my parents will take it, if that were to happen. i'll most certainly be disappointed :o the wait in the bus line-up to both customs was excruciating. i wasn't keeping track of time, or rather, i hate keeping tabs on the time because it always made time seem to crawl and the wait ever longer. but according to mum, it totalled 2.5 hours. i even took a picture where the bus stopped in front of a yellow line (which we assumed to be the a demarcation of our entry into malaysian territory, since it ran on the opposite side of the road as well!). it's the "so near yet so far" sentiment. :/ we chose the peak of peak hours to leave the country LOL. i can't deny the rush of adrenaline when we zoomed off from the malaysian customs at high speed. we were far from kl, but we'd finally broke free from the ant-crawl of a queue to the customs. it felt like liberation. at least, my mind told me it's a cause for celebration! (: alright, then comes our first meal on board a long-distance bus! so exciting. the nasi lemak was great, i practically polished the plastic container clean because i didn't have breakfast and the wait at the customs had my tummy protesting for too long :P mum actually double-confirmed whether the food was from singapore. LOL. funny la (: anyway, the ride was so bumpy, it's funny to see the plastic container tremble non-stop and jump when the bus jerks un-expectedly (not like it doesn't jump when we expect the bus to jerk HAHA x)). my eyes was glued to the small tv screen while i shoved food into my mouth. haha there's too much entertainment at one go, i feel over-stimulated :p the driver only stopped once at yong peng, which is pretty useless (since most of us had had our fill with the meal onboard) if not for the need for a toilet break. mum was particularly funny. there was no place to place her handbag in the grossly wet toilet, she had to hang it around her neck. LOL! desperate times call for desperate measures, i guess. it really threw me into laughing fits when she recounted what she did. i think she makes a perfect comedian. go, mum! (: it took 3 movies before we reached (: i don't even know the names of 2 of the movies because they didn't show it. but they were really entertaining. i think i still take a liking to films on war in ancient china (: 童夢奇緣 was such a tear-jerker though i'd watched it before :x anyway, it didn't feel like a long journey cos the movies kept us sufficiently occupied. but we were naturally shocked to find that it was near 3pm when we arrived. 3 dejected souls were resigned in their seats near the ballroom lobby. they must've waited for more than 1.5 hours for the bus to arrive and take them home to singapore. poor things, and we seriously hoped that won't happen to us when it's our turn to return home :x it's late. i'll continue tomorrow. striving to document my trip as accurately as possible :D xinying ploughed through her empty list at 11:18 pm
