friday episode 2.

i don't really remember what the hotel lobby looked like, even though i'd stepped out of it barely 3 days ago. i do recall a brown darkness about it though. the hall was wide and dimly lit, but it wasn't oppressive. rather, it made me sleepy. i know it's weird but that's the experience i had when i stood on the exquisite and expensive-looking fur rug, looking on to the mass of eager tourists buzzing around the check-in counter, shoving their receipts at the flustered hotel staff. they weren't far off but the dimness seemed to put miles between us.

fatigue was getting at me after the prolonged jerky bus ride, and it didn't help when the receptionist told us that our room will be ready in a maximum of 2 hours. 2 hours?! what on earth are we supposed to do in the meantime? the staff gave us each a complimentary drink but we were less than gratified. we were thirsty because none of us dared to drink much during the journey for fear we'll find ourselves in need of the loo all too often. so we downed the classic fruit punch in no time, and found ourselves, again, idle. racking our brains for possible entertainment. mum and dad weren't up for cam-whoring but i still managed to snap a few pictures of them by requesting (rather forcefully :p) to take a photo WITH either of them. after a while, i got tired of taking all the initiative and ended up capturing sceneries and odd designs of the building instead (: but fiddling with the camera isn't going to suffice. the idea of hanging around the lobby and sports bar for 2 hours with virtually no entertainment was unthinkable. probably because we couldn't fathom how the room wasn't ready for us, when we've booked it in advance. and to add to that, we were late, that should have provided them with the time that the need to tidy up the room in question :/ we were seriously annoyed at the receptionist's "we're so sorry to keep you waiting" because it sounded rehearsed and repetitive and probably insincere in our frustrated minds. however optimistically dad and i tried to put up with it, it didn't seem like the 2 hours will ever end. it wasn't long before we learnt that the hotel didn't just mess up on us. some of the bookings weren't recorded, leaving one of the families that came with us with no lodging. it's the knowledge that we weren't the worst off that provided some gratification but it wasn't enough to appease us. and we bugged the staff constantly till our room was ready an hour later. i wonder if bugging made the room service people speed up? or did we just made the lives of the receptionists more difficult? :p

ok end of unhappiness. (:

i'm really tired. shall write about our conquest of bukit bintang tomorrow. woah one day split into 3 posts. not bad :D but i really need to re-charge now, or it'll be my turn to be conquered by the kids tomorrow. :d
