Tried to write a letter; In ink
I've got a piece of paper; But it's Empty when the common becomes uncommon
Tuesday, March 30, 2010
it feels weird to be writing about a common school day. well i guess it's just one of the few days where i feel strangely empty, because there isn't anything to look forward to. the passes as a blur, completely aimless. as kk coined it, you could well have been daydreaming the entire day, and your thoughts become "as clear as the cloudy sky". shall skip the part on campaigning cos i think whatever i say is either gonna give myself away, or give someone else's angel away. so forget it (: to be honest, i've been feeling vastly misplaced throughout the day. having stoned through a 3-hour council campaign, my brain was so much at point blank that i had a feeling it must be put to work, or we may pick up the scent of rotten meat very soon. but then again, what's there to do during chem lecture when i've completed both today's lecture notes and tutorial during yesterday's h3? gosh, totally reminds me of some economics theory: that i was financing my current entertainment with future boredom. still, i may be able to postpopne my "suffering" a bit. so i embarked on my gp journal. i still don't know how many entries we're supposed to have by now, though suspect it's gonna be 3-4 more than what i currently have. well, blame myself for casting gp aside too often! :x journal writing, needless to say, continued into the next lesson. my writing speed is painfully slow (at this point, i've been on this entry for more than 30 min?! that's how slow i can get. math lesson got pretty awkward at one piont. mrs lim saw (i won't say caught, cos i was doing it so openly) me highlighting words for my word bank and instinctively suan-ed me for being able to "multitask". maybe it's just me, but her tone was very much serious, i really couldn't differentiate whether she was poking fun at me or being honestly stern about it at that point in time. so am i supposed to joke or not? then she clarified that it's ok, i can continue doing so if i really am capable of multitasking, which i am! but things got really awkward because i'm done with whatever i need to do. i needed a dictionary to continue constructing my word bank, so yea. what now? do i pretend to continue doing? -.- off to commserve. mishap #2 goes to oversleeping and missing our stop today. both phuong ha and i dozed off on the bus and neither woke up in time. just what are the odds? x( but we were fortunate to be only 5 stops away from our destination (: 'twas a busy day at commserve, but we gave ourselves a treat after that. i got a green apple-flavoured flavour burst (lol.) from mac's while phuong ha tried out the new cereal mcflurry. it tasted great but i thought the price was a little steep, in view of the small amount of ice cream served. tze liang wanted a blueberry flavour burst but it wasn't available at that kiosk. sadd ): but raspberry isn't bad too!

punggol or hougang?
Sunday, March 28, 2010
stj. venue: punggol park event: bbq time: 3.30pm but stj for us started at 12.50pm when we started scouting from carre four in plaza sing for food and butter. it feels utterly weird to be grocery shopping with him, but oh well, it's not exactly grocery shopping. it's like grab some tidbits and dump it into the basket. oh there're two new flavours for pringles. lemon is slightly sour, a new twist to the conventional salty/spicy combi of potato chips. (: but we couldn't really stomach the other hazelnut sweetness! so yea. :x scooting off purple line to hougang failed at first, cos we were so busy talking, we missed the stop and ended up in buangkok. but that's much better than yun hao, who thought punggol park is in punggol. so he rode the mrt all the way to punggol (way past hougang), only to find out that it's at hougang ave 8 after that. lol. standing just across the street from punggol park, we stared at the sunlit (almost treeless) side of the park and wondered whether we're here to barbeque or get barbequed? lol. honestly it was so hot, my face was still red when i got home at night. anyway, we managed to find the pits just behind the tiny car park rather quickly (thought we were at the wrong place, cos everything looks so inflated on the maps!), unlike some unlucky souls who took the wrong turn and had to walk around the entire lake (means walking the whole perimeter of the park already!!) before they found us! :p there was this man sleeping at our pit, so we settled at pit 1 first. then the food came at 2.15?! oh gosh, long way to go before the bbq starts (considering that majority of the senior class is planning to arrive late!). when we were going down to the car park to collect food, we saw two guys carrying boxes labelled "bbq wholesale" (the same company i ordered the food from), so we thought they were delivering them to us and wanted to take them. then a quirky question came about "which unit are you from?" o.O well, i suppose it's some army camp gathering? pai seh to have mistaken them for the delivery man! we finally saw people streaming in at 4pm x( but it was funny to see 3 guys walking very far apart on the greens. it totally looked like they hiked their way here lol. after about an hour of slacking around, gazing at the lake, we were resigned to the fact that the juniors will outnumber the seniors no matter. so we started the bbq while the number was still 2:1 (: chelsea kept complaining that i'm the only senior there and my hands weren't black from charcoal, so i need to help in arranging charcoal as well! LOL! dunno how many times i was coerced by her yesterday. for not doing menial tasks like arranging charcoal, for taking a photo of her and brolin (openly! i asked them to smile!), etc. lol. new trend: junior bully senior! x) starting the bbq fire was such an uphill task, omg. the pit was back facing a huge field so the wind was so strong, it kept blowing out whatever flames we lit. gosh literally "gone with the wind" LOL. ok lame. but yea, it took u more than 45 min to get the charcoal burning. and it's all worthwhile cos we got a really sustained and lively fire after that that any drop of butter (or any other form of fuel e.g. leaves, etc.) can garner blazing sparks. there was this once when dumped satays into the melted butter before throwing them onto the grill. and guess what? we got a huge burst of flames. like whoosh!, like a mini atomic bomb that shocked everyone and made us step back 3 steps!! haha (: and we realised later that we probably killed all the stingray and sweet potato below the grill with that gash of heat :x! haha. sidetrack: typing "haha" now reminds me of how kh said that, when talking to girls, you need to start with "haha" and end with a smiley face ":)" and how siokhui complained that it's pretty gay after that lol. funny people (: then it's serving up the food to the juniors playing soccer on the field. we got kaikiat, the only junior who stayed at the pit the entire time, to do that. i think he's very poor thing. we got him to do a lot of stuff that we didn't want to do, like breaking the chicken wing joints one by one, wing by wing, with his bare hands? but i think he enjoyed it cos he went beyond his job scope and wanted to de-bone the wings lol (: go bridge junior! people kept complaining and inquiring whether the food is edible (i.e. clean). so the old joke kept resonating: did kk wash his hands? don't worry, it'll be clean after 10 chicken wings. x) oh! i didn't know hotdogs was on such high demand, or i would have ordered more!! it's like in face of their favourtie dessert (longan), they'd run when someone shouts "the hotdogs are done!!" lol, even though they think the hotdogs looked tumourised! it's probably right that hotdogs were categorised under "kids favourites" on the bbq wholesale website, hahaha :p after cajoling about, they had wrestling matches. michelle tee was amazing. she actually challenged russell! o.O omg, the chances of winning were slim but i don't think any other girl would have lasted longer than her, omg. so strong. henry vs russell was freaking amusing, cos henry kept trying to bribe russell, like "if i win, i give you 50 cents". then it slowly inflated when he was losing: "60 cents, 70 cents -- 1 dollar!!" :D our juniors are such funny people but i had to leave after that match, so couldn't catch the rest. :x

post-blocks
Saturday, March 27, 2010
alright blocks are officially over! it's time to devote myself back to my tiny space online, though i'm really worn out from the 3-hour bio lecture, windy punggol field and stj today. a rather eventful block test week we had. visiting starbucks 4 out of 5 days. bridge 6 out of 5 days. haha, if you're wondering how that is possible, we were practising bridge bidding while waiting for people at punggol park today. lols, bunch of bridge addicts (: anyway, i guess cards are an important part of teenagers' lives these days (for professional gaming like contract bridge or just a normal pastime), cos at least 3 groups of people asked me for cards these 2 days. haha, but if it's so important, why didn't they keep a pack with themselves at all times? or maybe it's just the knowledge that you can just borrow from any bridge player around. honestly, which bridge player doesn't have a pack of cards with him/her at all times (: the most epic of all is to go for a movie a day before our bio papers! but it was worth it! "how to train a dragon" is like my first 3D movie in eons!! so it was quite an experience. the plot was predictable but i still love the action. classic fairy tale but who cares! all of us need this kind of light entertainment to counter stress levels (whether we studied or not) :) so yea, thanks guys! love the bridge people :D anyway, i studied the least during the exam week this time around, but it's also the first time i feel so confident about getting a satisfactory outcome in my 2 years in college! well, other than gp (disclaimer). so yayys! (: big news. i lost 3 water bottles during the course of the week! plus one more today cos the cap went missing ): bad water bottle week, i had! it's saturday! there was huge confusion about the bio lecture timing. some say 8am, others say 8.30am. so yea, most people arrived in school at 8am to play safe. i was nearing school at 8am when i overheard mr poh telling a girl that the lecture proper starts at 8.30am, my heart sank. why did i have to wake up so early? -.- well, alright, we got to sort out parts of our bridge convention during that 30min, so i guess it's not that wasted (: anyway, i'm so happy. we settled on how to defend weak two preempts properly. away with those lousy preempts! :DD bio lecture in the audi. again, the school admin repeated the feat of turning us into mega ice cuboids. just imagine 3 hours at 16 degrees Celsius without a jacket. i really wonder how i survived it when i reflect on how hard i was shivering at that time!! moral of the story: never leave your warmer at home, even though you know it's gonna be a hot day. well, air-conditioners don't follow weather forecasts! went to douby for lunch with yifei and kah hong. kah hong was damn funny, he kept talking about calling me mum and yifei dad, and changing surname to zheng and whatnots. LOL. but that's what makes it fun to cajole around with friends (: 9: crazy guy just added me as mum on fb again. should i accept for fun? d: after that, we dilly-dallied around so much that i think he was late for h3 in the end again, though he proclaimed that this will be the first time that he'll be early. lols! (: then stj preparation... (to be continued) i shall talk about stj tmr. really tired now. but looking forward to stj photos, though i won't be in any of them! :D oh gosh, i just re-read what i wrote up there, and realised how disjointed my thoughts are. alright, shall stop torturing my exhausted brain and go sleep. good night~ i'm looking forward to commserve. miss the kids (:

sam lee will probably ask why we didn't shy away when he spotted us together, if he saw the previous post. but point is, he's alert and he already saw. so yea, what can we do? :x claudia taunted chengyan the whole morning. haha so cute to watch them bicker (: (: lovely friends. 2.4km wasn't as tough as i expected it to be. well, i obviously didn't make the C grade but i think i passed. amazingly!! (: (given that i barely exercised thrice in the past 2 months? :p) yayy i'll pass napfa! :D oh yea, A level results were out today! saw a few seniors but didn't approach to talk to them. i was feeling kinda anti-social. hopefully didn't make people feel awkward but it got better during bridge, so yea. good (: yaze filled us in just now on his and a few others' imba results, of course, not without poking fun at us before leaving x) hwachong did brilliant! whoots (: i wonder if we'll be able to do as well as them. the pressure is upon us now *lip trembles dramatically* though i don't really feel it, and that's bad! i work best under pressure. i'm a pressure cooker :x ok lame, but i need that minimal amount of stress. and not getting it stresses me out. what an irony! xinying ploughed through her empty list at 11:59 pm
close shave
summoned myself to the computer, because i'm refusing to touch gp work... yet. well, i'll have to do it sooner or later. procrastination instincts just took over for the time being. :x something noteworthy. yifei and i were chatting really loudly while crossing the overhead bridge outside school yesterday. then at the foot of the bridge, we met mrs lim!? like "!!!!" but we stopped short in time, so she didn't see us. well, we're obviously not going to invite a niao-ing spree from her D: so yea, but it was so epic we spent quite some time laughing our guts out right behind her and deliberating about what to do. but she didn't notice! LOL. so we made a large detour and ended up behind the tall plants to make further plans. after that it was decided that i walk casually to the bus stop and he'll join in a few moments. met beehoon again at the busstop and we saw mrs lim trying to hail a taxi when we were boarding the bus. wonder why she stood there waiting idly for so long. hmmm, i shouldn't be nosey (: but apparently mrs lim didn't notice any of those up there, because there's no sign of that today. so yayys (: xinying ploughed through her empty list at 10:27 pm

friday afternoon with bridge juniors. a few notable quotes, which most bridgers probably already know! one junior (i forgot her name :x it's a wonder how i can remember bids, you'd say! but the truth is, i hardly remember them! :p). alright her partner overcalled 2D. she holds 4-card diamonds and tells me that she knows that max she can go is 3D. opponent on her right bids 3S, blocking her 3D bid and she tells me, "i feel like bidding 4D, is that ok?" o.O NOT ok! learn standard bidding before you learn to feel! (trying to sound like a well-meaning senior :p) then she asks, "will you bid 4D?" "i will." hahaha, there goes a puzzled junior and a self-contradictory senior :p ryan, yen seow and i tried to play with daren. look at how his name is isolated from ours :p cos he kept snatching and swopping cards, such that someone will find themselves with too few or too many cards. so every board got scrapped. !!!! haha, funny daren :) after a few rounds, we got tired of playing with him and just went snooping around the tables again :) shaun tho: who knows your partner may have 40 points? o.O how do you get forty points? we figured it's a 4-4-4-4 hand. LOL. revoke! before we called it a day, yuanxi assembled a demo game, consisting of him, jinxiang, yifei and me??? :o i was a little taken aback cos i think i've pretty much lost touch because i haven't revised my bids in quite a bid. my declaring skills were even more hopeless. (in comparison to them la!) but i think i did pretty well :D slapped down a 4H bid unthinkingly and made many juniors gasp (well, they probably aren't accustomed to this kind of bidding yet, so i felt rather pro! :p). then when jinxiang said i've got balls (if i'm a guy), i took a second look at my hand and realised i bidded wrong. even 3H would be a stretch, i think. hahaha, signs of losing touch with the bidding system! but i did a 4Hx -1 miraculously (when it could have gone -3) cos they didn't return the correct suit. oh well. i'm lucky (: yayy top board! i don't really remember the rest but the cards weren't washed very well, so we kept getting freak 7-carders in a suit that calls for extreme bidding methods. not much of a revision of bids then :) i shall skip all of zhengyang + kah hong's sick comments! one more naughty moment: kah hong and i flooded yen seow's plate with tomato sauce! :p got him so red in the face, i was afraid he was going to hit somebody! then i ended up with that plate of rice in the end -.- instant retribution! xinying ploughed through her empty list at 9:49 pm
